Back to Bird

It had been far too long since my last vacation from my vacation, so it seemed like a good idea to go back to my favorite place in the Seychelles (and possibly the entire world).....Bird Island. Last time I was there - it was the middle of August and bird nesting season. The place was absolutely covered in a million birds (literally, actually a million birds). This time, there was a normal number of birds but it was turtle nesting season - so we got to see hawksbill turtles coming up out of the ocean to dig their nests and lay their eggs in the middle of the day. Did you know that Seychelles is one of the only places in the world where turtles will come up in daytime to lay eggs? Fascinating bit of trivia for you, I know. We didn't get to actually see the egg laying process, but saw 4 different hawksbill turtles either coming up out of the water or covering up their nests and heading back to the ocean after an exhausting egg laying session. I took about 1287569 photos of them and shared at least half of them here - you're welcome. I fortunately get to see hawksbill turtles almost daily at some of our dive sites and love watching them, as they are so graceful under water. To see them on land is something completely different as they struggle quite a bit to heave their bodies up and over the sandy beach to a proper nesting spot. Enough talking though, enjoy the 100+ photos, mostly of turtles!
