Back to Bird: Snorkeling with Green Turtles

This entire post is basically green turtle porn - no, not photos and videos of turtles engaged in THAT, but just a series of photos and videos from my morning snorkels with green turtles at Bird Island (and a video of one curious tortoise that came over to say hello on the way to the snorkel spot).  As if I needed another reason to love Bird Island, there is a special spot right off the beach underneath the boats where the green turtles come in at high tide to munch on the seagrass. It is no more than a couple meters deep and easy to get to - so long as you avoid the giant baraccuda that hangs out around there too. Green turtles come up to nest and lay their eggs at night, so I didn't get to see any of them out of the water like the hawksbills, I only got to hang out with them during their breakfast hour. Sad, I know. Some of the turtles take off when they see you, others stick around and go about their meal as if you aren't even there.  Green turtles are the prettiest turtles, in my opinion, but take a look and judge for yourself.
